I didn't always shower in broken glass and the streetlight down the cul-de-sac wasn't always faded.
There was a time when you were tangible and breathing was easy and distance wasn't measured in poems and summers but just in days and nights. There was a time when pronouns consisted of "we" and "us" and we didn't use possessives like "my" and "your". There was a time when we belonged.
But now I feign anger just as well as you plead innocence. And while you try to try, I'm learning to learn again. I've grown too accustomed to the dreary sting of bittersour sea salt, ironically clogging up my arteries to avoid suicide by saturation.
I wonder if you miss it at all, or if you miss the idea of missing, or if you even have the time to do that.
I still do, even as the spout rains shattered diamonds and the jaundice-yellow streetend flickers into the cold.

faces scattered among perennials
the butterflies torment my insides
concocting a bloody mess
i lose control of my mind, a zombie
searching for flesh and love and flesh
if you could touch me, caress me, even just hold me
i could be satisfied of my hunger
though the best option would be eternity
don't drag me along a barren trail
arms tied together and attached to a wagon with frayed rope
feelings can only be harbored, never trusted
and i am one who cannot handle disappointment
especially when you bring my hopes up so high.
i want you, need you, crave you
i. you breathe fog onto my mirror
and i can't help but shiver
ii. whisper sweet words with a smile plastered on your face
and i can't help but glow
iii. extend your hand at unexpected times
and i can't help but feel triumph
iv. provide shelter at a moments notice
and i can't help but fall for you
it's killing me and saving me all at the same time
when you're across the ocean and my lighthouse is broken. Overcastthe sky is overcast, with unsurpassed, possibilities
I hope the rain will come, will come undone, undo and set me free
I want to rest awhile
where I can recognize
the image of my smile
